Meeting Your Idols

Meeting your idols is an amazing experience. It can be a bit tricky sometimes when we want to meet these people yet we’re scared of how they’ll really act towards us. Are their personalities the same as when they’re on TV or on stage? So far, the people that I’ve looked up to and have had the privilege to meet have been nothing short of wonderful. The one that stands out in my mind the most of course, is my first meeting with Carson Daly. *cue the screaming*…or not. Please don’t. :D

That is me at the age of 14 with Carson (I know it's small, sorry!) The date was July 29, 2003 and I remember it like it was yesterday. I had gone to a taping of his late-night talk show Last Call with Carson Daly and after the show I waited for him in the NBC lobby at Rockefeller Center. When I think about what a noob I was I cringe every time! He was very sweet and he actually took the time to talk to me which I could not believe. It looked like he was in a hurry when he came downstairs and I felt mortified walking up to him like a loon but he was just so gracious. I had made him a mix CD and he stood there and looked through the entire track listing and said “Whoa, this is AWESOME!! Thanks!” The rest is all a blur but I’m sure it was great haha.

Even to this day I admire Carson for just being real. You don’t get too much of that nowadays. There’s no bullshit with him and I wish more people would see that.
